When people relocate to Eugene, South Eugene is often one of the first neighborhoods they ask about—and for good reason. Beautiful tree-lined streets, incredible access to hiking trails, established homes, and a welcoming sense of community have made it one of Eugene's most desirable places to live.
That said, I don't automatically recommend South Eugene to every buyer. It's one of the most sought-after areas in the city, which often means higher home prices and more competition. Fortunately, Eugene has many wonderful neighborhoods, each with its own personality and advantages. My goal is always to help buyers find the community that best fits their lifestyle, priorities, and budget—not simply the one that's most well known. Eugene is an easy city to get around, and just because you don't live in South Eugene doesn't mean you'll miss out on everything it has to offer.
Still, it's easy to understand why so many people dream of living here. South Eugene offers a lifestyle that is peaceful, active, convenient, and deeply connected to nature.
Quiet, Peaceful Living
One of the first things many buyers notice about South Eugene is how remarkably quiet it is.
Unlike other parts of Eugene, you won't hear constant traffic from Interstate 5, Beltline Highway, or Highway 126. Instead, you're more likely to hear birds singing, leaves rustling in the trees, and neighbors walking their dogs.
The mature trees, winding streets, and established neighborhoods create a peaceful atmosphere that's becoming increasingly difficult to find.
If you're looking for a place where you can slow down, open the windows, and enjoy a quieter pace of life, South Eugene is hard to beat.

Very Little Theatre – One of the oldest community theaters in the country and a local favorite for live productions.
Hult Center for the Performing Arts – Broadway tours, symphony, concerts, dance, comedy, and more. Only about 10–15 minutes from most of South Eugene.
University Theatre – Student and faculty productions throughout the year.
Oregon Bach Festival – Internationally recognized summer music festival.
The Eugene Symphony performs at the Hult Center.

The Rexius Trail is another favorite walking spot.
Laurelwood Golf Course has a wonderful little café with beautiful views.

Eugene is known as "TrackTown USA." With the Hayward Field, the University of Oregon's legendary track program, and numerous running clubs, Eugene has a deep running culture. Living in South Eugene means you'll often see runners on neighborhood streets, Ridgeline trails, and in nearby parks.

The farmers market.
The restaurants.
The sense of community.
It's one of those places that people often move to because they love the homes—but stay because they fall in love with the lifestyle.
